In total I watched 414 movies. 38% of all the movies I watched were viewed for the first time and the rest were films I had seen at least once before. Some of them were personal favorites that I enjoy over and over again. Some were films tat I had not seen for many years and I was revisiting them for the first time.
I enjoyed creating mini film festivals such as my End of Summer series, San Francisco series, Danger InThe Skies series and a Steven Spielberg retrospective. I viewed 37 movies inside a theatre and the rest were viewed at home. I watched films on broadcast TV such as TCM, HBO, The Sundance Channel and Retroplex. I often used my Tivo to record films for later viewing and to download new releases direct from Amazon.com. The majority of films were watched on DVD along with Blu-ray and some on old 90's technology, my Laser Disc player. All movies watched at home were viewed on a Panasonic 46" HD plasma TV with 5.1 channel surround sound.
Seeing a movie in a theatre is still my favorite way to watch a film. It does not matter whether the theatre is packed full or I am alone amongst two hundred empty seats, the theatre experience is completely immersive and makes the movies larger than life. I enjoy seeking out revival houses such as The Castro, The Stanford Theatre and The Retro Dome to catch classi films on the big screen. It gratifies me that my own company, AMC Theatres, is committed to bringing back great movies to the big screen. In just the past months we have featured Pretty In Pink, Airplane and Taxi Driver, and this week we will be screening Top Gun. If ever there was a film that benefited from the superior sound and big picture of a movie auditorium it's Top Gun.
I love movies. I have passion for them that has existed inside me for as long as I can remember. While I will no longer be blogging a movie a day I will continue to use this forum to talk about all things movies.
