35 years of Summer Blockbusters - May 14th

May 14, 2004 - Six years ago Warner Bros. released Wolfgang Petersen's Troy starring Brad Pitt. Troy is one of the most expensive films ever made, at a cost of $225 million dollars, including marketing. It only made $133 million during it's U.S. release but the film was profitable by taking in an additional $364 million overseas.

The movie was widely panned upon it's release. Later on Warner Bros. paid another million dollars for Petersen to create a director's cut. The new cut was 30 minutes longer, but made major improvements to the films narrative. The director's cut went into limited theatrical release and then was released to home video.
