May 13, 2005 - Five years ago Jane Fonda returned to movies, after a 15 year retirement, with the film Monster-in-Law. Also starring Jeniffer Lopez, the film is about a mother (Fonda) who goes to extremes to break up the marriage of his son to Lopez. The film received poor reviews, but was a commercial success grossing $150 million in worldwide ticket sales on a budget of $43 million.
May 13, 1983 - Twenty Seven years ago Roy Scheider starred in the film Blue Thunder. Also starring Malcolm McDowell this action film, directed by John Badham, was about the L.A.P.D. adopting a military helicopter for civilian crime control. It turns out that a corrupt group are planning to use the helicopter in sinister ways and it becomes Scheider's role to stop them. The movie climaxes with with dueling helicopters battling over Los Angeles. The film received mixed reviews but was a commercial success with $42 million in ticket sales. It also spawned a short lived TV series in 1984.
