35 years of Summer Blockbusters - May 17th

May 17, 2002 - Eight years ago the heart warming and delightful comedy About A Boy opened. Based on the book by Nick Hornsby, it is a story of a misfit boy, his depressed mother and a lonely bachelor and how their lives crossed paths. At the Movie House rating **** stars


May 17, 1996 - Fourteen years ago Flipper was released. The film was a remake of a 1963 movie based on the hit TV series. Sandwiched between the releases of Twister and Mission:Impossible the film sank without a splash. No rating available.

May 17, 1991 - Nineteen years ago the very funny Bill Murray comedy What About Bob opened. They say that Bill Murray improvised almost all of his lines. At the Movie House rating *** stars.


Also opening that day were Stone Cold, featuring the acting debut of Brian"the Boz" Bosworth. The film demonstrated everything that was wrong with 90's action movies. No rating available

and also opening Mannequin Two; On the Move a film that showed when Hollywood wants to, they can turn out complete and utter crap and people will still pay to see it. At The Movie House rating 0 stars

Have you followed the career of the young man who starred in "About a Boy"?

I had not seen him in anything until last month when I was watching Clash Of The Titans and it took me about twenty minutes to place his voice. He is all grown up. I understand he was in A Single Man, but I didn't get to see that. I think he was in The Weather Man with Nicholas Cage
